First try at a nationalised bank close to your residence. They will need to provide valid reasons for rejection of your loan application and in writing. If they refuse, you have the right to lodge a formal RTI complaint via their websites and if no satisfactory response is received in four weeks, you can go ahead and complain to the banking ombudsman. Every nationalised bank has an RTI officer appointed in the bank, under the Right to Information Act. This pressure would work with a national bank, although not with a private or multinational bank, so apply to the former first.
